The event on Friday 14th March highlighted effective learning and the importance of children and young people being involved in local decision-making.
It was based on the Every Child Matters Outcome 'Making a Positive Contribution', included presentations and workshops and was chaired and delivered by children and young people from a variety of backgrounds and ages.
The workshops covered subjects such as 'Why should we listen to Children and Young People?' and 'Young people in local decision making' and were used to help staff at all levels explore how they can successfully involve children and young people in their work.
The children and young people acted as 'Roving Reporters' to ask delegates a series of questions about they engage with children and young people. They also designed and delivered a number of activities to encourage delegates to actively participate in the conference.
In addition to the children and young people, speakers at the event included Chief Executive of 11 Million, Rob Williams, Director for Children and Young People at Suffolk County Council, Rosalind Turner and Head of Children and Learners at GO-East, Hilary Cooper.
Speaking about the event Chris Hilliard, Director for Children and Learners at GO-East said:
"It is essential that we invest in young people and children, listen to their views and ensure their involvement in decisions, which matter to them and the future prosperity of the region. This conference will demonstrate the real potential children and young people have in making a difference to their community and to the region."
