The centres, namely Little Treasures, Shoebury and Centre Place, are contrasting in nature, located across different wards of the Town. However, they are equally positive and engaging in the provision and delivery of services to meet key targets.
The image to the right shows the new Shoebury Children's Centre. Funding was accessed from European Regional Development Fund.
Sure Start Children's Centres are underpinned by the prime aims and objectives outlined in the Government green paper entitled; Every Child Matters: Change for Children.
The Government's aim is for every child and young person aged from birth to age 19, from whatever their background or circumstances, to receive the necessary support to:
- Be healthy
- Stay safe
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic well-being
Sure Start Children's Centres and also Extended Schools are designed to become, over time, universal access points for integrated services for children and their parents at the heart of their communities. This includes childcare, health and education provision.
