Co-Financing

Co-financing is a simpler, more strategic way for European Social Funds (ESF) to add value to key objectives in relation to employment and training. Ten Co-financing Organisations (CFOs) were approved in the East of England region in 2002 to manage the co-financing process. This process involves CFOs bidding for large amounts of ESF, which are matched with mainstream programme budgets to form a 100% funding package for projects to bid to.

The ten approved CFOs within the East of England Region are:

  • Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Herfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk Local Learning and Skills Councils
  • Jobcentre Plus
  • the East of England Development Agency (EEDA)
  • Bedfordshire and Essex County Councils

A total of £181m has been allocated to CFOs, with each CFO holding a number of tender rounds. All remaining funds have now been allocated to CFOs with final tender requests in 2006. Details of these will appear on the CFO websites as well as information on activity undertaken to date.
