Children and Young People

Government Office for the East of England is responsible for supporting the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) by working with all agencies involved in delivering services for children and young people, to improve outcomes for all children and young people from 0 –19 years of age.

A number of recent policy developments around children and young people, have significantly shaped the Government Office role in this important area of work.

We provide support and challenge to Local Authorities and their partners to deliver key priorities across the range of services for children and learners.  Central to our approach is the work of our Children Services Advisers [CSAs] who lead on this strategic engagement, with a particular emphasis on securing improved outcomes for Children and Young People through adoption of Change for Children framework.

In addition to activities around Change for Children we also bring together the following areas of work and, through monitoring performance and facilitating the development of partnerships at a local and strategic level, we help those organisations deliver the Government’s rapidly changing children and young people’s agenda

  • Children’s Fund
  • Early Years
  • Sure Start
  • Connexions
  • Millennium Volunteer (MV)
  • Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP)
  • Youth Capital Fund
  • Youth Opportunities Fund
